So, the 10k crept up on us a lot quicker than I had expected, and with all the training and fundraising that took place on the actual morning of the run I felt less than confident. Thankfully, with the help of a wonderful team, lots of encouragement, and pure adrenaline, the race was run – and I found it a lot easier than expected. So, on that note – I encourage anyone who is even thinking about running a 10k to go for it. The atmosphere, encouragement from people on the sidelines, and people in the race – not to mention friends and family – all makes it a really satisfying experience. And if like me you have never run before (well apart from the small amount of training I did in the weeks leading up to the run) you will feel such a sense of achievement afterwards and be signing up for the next one as quickly as possible.

Well, dear readers, supporters and friends world-wide…… we did it! GWL’s wee team all completed the Glasgow Women’s 10K in style. We ran, we walked and we finished. Bedecked in our medals and devouring our complimentary bananas, we gathered after the race in our ‘Keep Glasgow Women’s Library Running’ T-shirts as we were mobbed and cheered by our adoring fans in Bellahouton Park. Thank you so much for all your sponsorship and support – it’s very much appreciated. It’s not too late if you still want to sponsor us in retrospect:-

No amount is too little or too large. We need every penny to count towards the £800,000 needed for the refurbishment of our new premises at the Mitchell Library.

For our elevenses treat, Kay has bought us all Pastel de Nata (Portuguese Tarts) as a reward so we are off to put the kettle on.
